Program Structure
Fall Module (Sep 15 – Dec 8)

Project Focus: Creating a Digital Newsletter
This module guides students through building and launching their own digital newsletter, blending communication, design, research, and AI.

Digital Ethics & Communication – Students learn the importance of seeking consent before emailing, practicing professional tone, and building habits of respectful online communication.

Web Design (HTML & CSS) – Students design and code the landing page for their newsletter, learning the building blocks of web development.

Research & Media Literacy – Students practice finding, verifying, and evaluating online content, developing critical thinking in the age of misinformation.

AI-Powered Curation – Students learn how to parse data with AI tools, then generate and curate new content for their newsletter.
Outcome: By the end of the Fall Module, students will have created a professionally styled, AI-assisted newsletter that reflects both their creativity and their ethical digital responsibility.

Spring Module (Jan 15 – Apr 20)
Project Focus: Building an AI Academic Assistant
In this module, students create their own AI-powered academic assistant—a tool designed to help them explore any topic they’re curious about during summer break. Step by step, they’ll learn the technical and ethical principles that go into building such a system.

Programming Foundations – Students strengthen their skills in Python and software development, applying code to make their assistant functional.

AI Development – They integrate AI to answer questions, summarize sources, and provide learning support.

Ethics & Responsible Use – Students write an Acceptable Use Policy for how they—and others—should interact with their assistant responsibly.

Research & Critical Thinking – They practice evaluating online sources so their assistant gives accurate and trustworthy responses.
Outcome: By the end of spring, students will have designed and coded their own AI learning companion—a tool they can use to deepen their knowledge during summer and beyond.
